The U-Gallery at LAV showcases the work of four remarkable artists: Rae Ann Ross, Jane deGruchy, Michael Altman, and Danielle Rose.
Rae Ann Ross brings a vibrant spirit to her contemporary paintings, ignited by a passion for art nurtured through travels across the U.S. and Europe. Since beginning her professional journey in 2018, Rae Ann’s work has found its way into galleries and private collections nationwide. Her award-winning piece, Nature’s Tropical Whimsical Garden, embodies her playful yet sophisticated exploration of color and form.
Jane deGruchy invites us into the fluid world of watercolor, a medium she fell in love with unexpectedly and has pursued with deep commitment over the past two decades. A Signature Member of the Philadelphia and Baltimore Watercolor Societies, Jane’s work radiates both technical skill and emotional depth, shaped by years of independent study and artistic community engagement.
Michael Altman introduces a meditative balance of precision and tradition through his Kumiko-style woodwork. Inspired by the centuries-old Japanese craft, Michael’s intricate wooden panels—comprising hundreds of meticulously cut and joined pieces—celebrate the natural beauty of wood without the use of stains or pigments. Each piece tells a quiet story of patience, heritage, and craftsmanship.
Danielle Rose offers a painterly perspective fueled by passion and resilience. A self-taught oil painter and neurologic physical therapist, Danielle embraces her multifaceted identity—artist, healer, mother—with the bold declaration, “Je choisis tout!” (“I choose all!”). Her works pulse with vibrant color and emotional nuance, reflecting the energy she draws from Lancaster’s thriving arts community.
Together, these four artists remind us that creativity thrives in the spaces where passion, craft, and personal journey intersect.
