Illuminated Foliage Tree III is a luminous exploration of light, texture, and quiet movement—hallmarks of Melissa S. Zane’s contemporary botanical art and contemporary botanical paintings. Rising vertically across the canvas, the tree’s form is built in high relief, inviting the viewer to experience the piece not just visually, but physically, as light catches and shifts across its sculptural surface. Layers of acrylic create a richly textured canopy, evoking leaves suspended in a moment of gentle motion. Subtle variations in tone and sheen give the impression of illumination from within, as though the tree is quietly alive—rooted, resilient, and glowing. The elongated 12" x 36" (without frame) format enhances the sense of growth and upward energy, making the piece feel both grounding and expansive. For collectors, Illuminated Foliage Tree represents Zane’s ongoing dialogue between nature and light, painting and sculpture. It is a contemplative statement piece—one that changes throughout the day as ambient light interacts with its surface—offering a living presence within a thoughtfully curated space.
