“Elemental Connections” in the Main Gallery

Friday, August 7 - Saturday, September 26

First Friday Opening: August 7 at 5:00PM

Elemental Connections explores the invisible threads that bind us to one another and to the natural world. Featuring work by Jeff Sibbett, Aubrey Maurer, Scott Sneddon, Mike Houston, Harry R. White, and emerging artist Kayla Smith, the exhibition celebrates the beauty and interconnectedness of nature and the human experience. Through their diverse perspectives and mediums, the artists invite viewers to reflect on our shared connection to the natural elements and to one another.

Jeff Sibbett's abstract mixed-media works examine the delicate balance between structure and spontaneity. Through geometric forms, layered textures, and experimental surfaces, his compositions blur the boundaries between the industrial and the organic, revealing the tension and harmony that exist within both nature and ourselves.

Aubrey Maurer's ceramic sculptures emerge from a deeply personal connection to the Pennsylvania landscape. Her organic forms and earthy glazes evoke forests, stone, and flowing terrain while exploring humanity's dependence on—and responsibility to protect—the natural world. Each sculpture becomes both a reflection of place and a quiet call for environmental mindfulness.

Harry R. White transforms pressed flower petals and botanical materials into intricate collages that celebrate the wonder of nature. Inspired by lunar cycles, gardens, and the rhythms of the seasons, his imaginative works merge the earthly with the celestial, reminding us that even the most delicate natural materials can tell stories of beauty, renewal, and connection.

Scott Sneddon's contemplative work encourages viewers to discover meaning in the overlooked moments of everyday life. By elevating the quiet rhythms and repetition of the mundane, his art reveals the profound beauty that often exists just beneath the surface of our daily experience, inviting reflection on what truly matters.

Mike Houston's monumental mixed-media works draw inspiration from the fundamental forces of nature. Representing the elemental energies that shape our world, his layered compositions embody the power, movement, and transformative qualities of earth, air, fire, and water, immersing viewers in the physical and emotional presence of the natural environment.

As the exhibition's emerging artist, Kayla Smith expands the conversation as her thoughtfully constructed works explore personal experience while inviting viewers to uncover their own interpretations, demonstrating how individual stories become part of a larger, shared human experience.

At its heart, Elemental Connections is a celebration of our shared humanity, reminding us that despite our differences, we are all part of the same living world.
