Transformation
Resident Artist Exhibition by Robin Ashby
Lancaster Art Vault is proud to present Transformation, an exhibition of marbled paper works by Resident Artist Robin Ashby.
An artist, writer, and historian, Ashby draws inspiration from the centuries-old traditions of European and Ottoman paper marbling. Through the movement of pigment floating on liquid, he creates intricate patterns that are both spontaneous and intentional, resulting in works that cannot be duplicated.
Ashby's artistic journey began in Chester County, Pennsylvania, where he was influenced by his grandfather's watercolor paintings and an early experience working at Andrew Wyeth's Chadds Ford home. After a global career in IT engineering and compliance, he turned his focus to bookbinding, paper marbling, and decorated paper.
In Transformation, Ashby celebrates the enduring beauty of a historic art form that is increasingly rare in the modern world. By honoring traditional techniques while bringing his own contemporary vision to the work, he invites viewers to experience the magic of color, movement, and change captured on paper.
